  • Tips to Deal with Depression

Depression can be grade in terms of severity — meek, moderate, or severe. The level of your depression can determine how you’ll be treated. Most important in the treatment is the right attitude of those who are in contact with the patient, also an accurate diagnosis.

Happiness is a state which requires a conscious effort for a person to keep it alive in our daily life because of great deal of emotional stresses that we encounter at our workplaces and in families.

There are a number of dietary factors that can help with depression. Eating a high carbohydrate diet (whole-wheat bread, unsifted maize meal, brown rice) boosts the production of serotonin in the brain which makes you feel more positive. Eating plenty of protein (meat, fish, eggs, cheese, yogurt, milk) to increase amino acid intake has the same effect. Alcohol and some drugs (recreational and prescription) can cause or exacerbate depression.

To avoid feelings of depression one needs to bravely face the reality which is truly subjective. It’s up to your mind how to perceive things differently. A person can feel happiness despite of hard times while another can remain dimmed even with happier moments in life. Depression is avoidable if a person can embrace the experience of feelings of depression. Depression occurs internally when a person’s mind and soul develop negative feelings. It has nothing to do with outer circumstances.

Take a walk or jog a while. If you’re into sports like basketball or baseball, go sweat it out in the court or on the field. Exercising helps the release of endorphins, which in turn stimulate happiness.

Depression is aggravated much by being alone. Depression self help works well when, you go out with others or let others involve you in their company/life activities. If you do not feel like doing something or doing it differently, openly ask your caring companions

If you want to solidify memories and events then you must tell good stories. With the help of stories you can interpret things easily and share some of your precious moments. Story telling is not only interesting it’s also a complete fun it would keep people’s interest in you for a long time.

Also getting professional help from a trained psychotherapist/psychiatrist is also part of depression self help. While it is important to strive your own way out of depressive mood, there is always need for professional help from an expert in psychological problems. Please remember that getting help for your mind is in no way an abnormal or awkward thing and it is part of life to seek health.
